Telephone boxes
On Saturday I was lucky enough to venture back to Portobello and Golborne Road for some grocery shopping. The weather was lovely bright and dry. We haven’t had that for a while so it was very appreciated.
I came across this old telephone box. Once a quintessential London icon now they have become obsolete. Who nowadays uses a telephone box to make a call? Hardly anybody.
So I was pleased to see that, rather than leaving this one to rot or discarding of it completely, it has been adapted for newer times:
It still has a phone but now the inside has been changed to house a cash point.
I think it’s a clever way to make it fit for newer times while retaining its old charms. If all the red phone boxes where to go, London would loose a little part of itself. And let’s face it: they make fabulous backdrops for pictures, for Londoners and visitors a like: This is from when B-Hasi came to visit a few winters ago.
Was für ein schönes Foto von Dir und unserem Schwiegersohn, ich bin stolz auf Euch!! Küsse M A M I
Danke schön! Aber das auf dem Bild ist Sonjachen!
das ist wirklich ein ganz doller Eintrag und hoffen wir mal, dass sich London
auch mit diesen wunderschönen Telefonzellen nicht ändert !!
