Good bye “New Hot Dog World”

hotdof2

My Berlin as I knew it has fallen apart. The “New Hot Dog World” in Weinbergsweg 4 has closed. I was shocked when I saw the empty store, the forgotten letters on the wall, the sad umbrellas… I used to live in Weinbergsweg and our Hot-Dog was the best choice for sitting outside watching people, spending Friday nights inside rephrasing Friends, grabbing a Dänischer Hotdog (maybe even two) or chatting to the owner. He always had a smile, a question about the family and remembered me even ten years after moving away.

This is what Gentrification does. Baram did not want to sell a bottle of water for 3,50€ in order to be able to pay the rent. So he decided to rather close his shop than to become part of of the change. I am gonna miss him. It was one of my most favourite places in Berlin.

New Hot Dog World in Weinbergsweg 4 hat zugemacht.

Ich werde das New Hot Dog World vermissen. Es war einer meiner Lieblingsplätze in Berlin.
