Hello, it’s the L-Hasi again.

Today I was able to leave the office on time (wohoo), so on my way home I run some errands, took a little stroll and saw this beautiful Christmas tree. The picture doesn’t really do it justice; it was huge!

It’s housed in Whiteleys, London’s oldest shopping centre, built in 1911. Back then it had a theatre and a gold course on the top floor. These have since given way to a multiplex cinema and an outdoor parking lot, but some of Whitelys’ grandeur is still visible today. Just look at the glass dome.

Hello, it’s the L-Hasi again.

London is in full pre-Christmas swing. The streets are beautifully lit up,decorations have been thoughtfully put up and people are spending time with friends and family.

I had my first Christmas dinner of the year and met my friends for a wonderful meal at The Coachmakers. The food was delicious and the company excellent.

And look who we saw on our way to there, the aptly named LondonSantaSkate. They out a smile on everybody they whizzed past.

One of the things I like about winter is the lights in the houses and seeing a bit how people live. These windows are really colourful and nice. I specially like the big heart.

Mami picked me up from work and took me to Markthalle 9 to have some dindins. Markthalle IX, also called railway market is one of the former 14 city market halls, which were built at the end of the 19th century. They substituted the open markets on the public squares. The Markthalle 9 was opened in 1891 and was used until 1990. Food discounter took over the place. Since 2011/2012 a farmer’s market takes places on Fridays and Saturdays and since April 2013 every Thursday the Street Food Day.

You can chose among everything you can imagine, grab a table and enjoy eating a little of a lot of things. So we had: truffle burger, ceviche, mushrooms, korean burger and wine. Omnomnomnomnom… I think I have found my new favourite thing to do on Thursdays.
