The wrinkles of the city

wrinkles of the city

While I out and about in Prenzlauer Berg I spotted my first black-and-white portrait photograph by the french artist JR within the context of his project The Wrinkles of the City. He has placed the portraits on over 15 buildings in Berlin. JR is portraying here older people who have lived through the changes and upheavals of their city. Their individual life stories and what they have gone through show up in their facial features just as Berlin’s history does on the buildings where JR posts up the posters. One down, at least fourteen to go. The exhibition can be seen until the 25.5. at the Galerie Henrik Springmann in Gipsstrasse 4, Berlin.
