Calçots!

calçotsIf you are in Catalonia between January and beginning of April, you will notice that many restaurants on weekend days remain empty, people go somewhere else to eat. Where? The answer is they go the masias on the country side and have a big calçotada. Calçots are kind of young onions, first they are grilled and then dipped in a delicious sauce. It can get messy so everyone wears a bib to avoid too much messiness. As a second dish you get quails, black pudding, beans and as a dessert a very omnomnomnom crema catalana. And don’t forget the wine, cava and orujos. I love calçotadas. And am actually proud that as a child I hated veggies (like every normal child I guess) but loved loved loved calçots.
